Students Tour Consulate

As part of a program to improve
the employment prospects of underprivileged Azorean young people, the U.S.
Consulate in Ponta Delgada hosted local high school students for a tour November
30.
Sponsored by the
Ponta Delgada Chamber of Commerce, these students are learning English and other
skills to enhance their chances of realizing a better future. Consulate staff
explained their work, emphasizing the advantage of having good English language
ability to capitalize on the economic opportunities that exist from the Azores’
strong relationship with the United States.
The tour ended
with a motivational Q&A session with Principal Officer Gavin Sundwall.
